What are Community Living Support Services?
Community Living Support services — or "CLS" services — are designed to teach skills that allow one to work toward obtaining or sustaining independent living in the community. CLS skill-building services are delivered by paraprofessionals who work on goals and objectives specific to the individual and their needs.
Some skill-building services may include:
- Learning self-care tasks
- Meal planning, safe food preparation, and cooking
- Cleaning and organizing
- Laundry tasks
- Skills needed to maintain a private residence
- Budgeting and prioritizing needs
- Learning to navigate the community to obtain things to meet basic needs
- Social skills and socially appropriate behavior in the community
- Safety in the community
